I recently had the opportunity to capture some fun engagement photos for Melanie & Reuben at the Tanger Bicentennial Gardens in Greensboro, NC. The gardens offer a picturesque backdrop no matter the season, and it's one of my favorite places to photograph because no matter when, there is always tons of gorgeous color, texture, and landscapes.
A few things about these two:
1) They sure do know how to have fun! We were laughing the whole time, and that definitely showed in their pictures in the best way possible.
2) They embrace their love of Avatar: The Last Airbender (for those of you who haven't watched the series, it's full of action, laughs, and cabbages - you'll thank me later)
3) They got adorably lost in each other's eyes when I was photographing them.
So as you can tell by the first image of this post, we had a little fun with cinematic edits when we were completing post production on Melanie and Reuben's images. When you've got a couple bringing hand made banners representing each of the kingdoms (Earth, Water, Fire, Air), you can't just give them regular, plain old pictures - you have to spice them up a little! Signature edits are something we've been beginning to experiment a little bit with to provide a more cinematic quality to a finished image. It looks a little strange if all of the images are similarly effected, but for a pop of something different in our client galleries, it is a lot of fun. Keep an eye on our instagram to see more of our design aesthetic.
I really had such a fun time with them and I can't wait to photograph their wedding day at Bella Collina early next year. If their engagement session was any indication, the wedding day is going to be an absolute blast. I'm so grateful to be a part of Melanie & Reuben's love story!
Here are a few of my favorites from the session:
Let us capture your love story!
We'd love to chat with you about your plans for your wedding day, so let's get coffee (or tea... and possibly cookies...) and discuss the big day!
